From the albums of Mrs. M. David and Ms. J. David there are a number of older views of Dhaka and surrounding areas. If you are able to identify any of the images, please get in touch. It would be nice to add a little bit of Dhaka social history to our pages.
- Thanks to the Facebook group “Dhaka 400 Years History of Photographs”, they helpfully identified this image. Page administrator Esrar Ahmed said: “this is Bhawal Temple (also known as Kalinarayan Temple) in Gazipur about 30kms north of Dhaka. This ‘pancho-ratno’ type temple was built by Raja Kalinarayana of Bhawal in c.1900. Haunted tale revolves around the temple and second Kumar (Prince), Ramendra Narayan Roy of famous Bhawal Case (1935)” Pictured here is Ruben David.
